Indonesia Eco Project
July 10 – August 10 stay in South Sulawesi, Indonesia
Our very first project is volunteering in South Sulawesi, Indonesia in July. Here, we will assist other volunteers in the creation and building of several tree houses that will serve as a studio, a school, and an art gallery. We will help create this building using all recycled materials. In addition to helping with construction, we are also going to be helping with English lessons, cooking classes, creative recycling, organic farming, tree planting and much more. Living among the locals we’ll get a first hand look at the Indonesian culture and lifestyle.
Malaysia Eco Project
August 12 – 31 stay in Langkawi, Malaysia
Eco Campsite – A beautiful and private six acre campsite that promotes living amongst nature is aiming to restore the long, lost natural habitats of the sea, forest, and mangrove. This six acre paradise is located in Teluk Dalam also known as Deep Bay. During our time here, we will be gardening, planting flowers and trees, clearing bushes, weeding, and clearing river paths. We will also be maintaining the cleanliness of the overall campground including but not limited to; laundry room, wash room, surrounding tent sites, and general housekeeping. Occasionally, we will prepare a simple, yet delightful breakfast for the inhouse guests.
Laos Hotel Work Exchange
September 2 – 26 stay in Vang Vieng, Laos
A wonderful couple located in a quaint town with only three streets and one bus station has welcomed us into their hotel with open arms. During our stay here, we will be assisting with the ongoing upkeep of the organic farm, assisting with repairs throughout the hotel including painting the walls, and sanding the floors. Other duties we will assist with include managing the cafe by speaking with customers, preparing orders, and creating new menu items. Social marketing, assisting with computers and other technology, housekeeping, and cooking food in the restaurant are also included in our daily duties. The hosts strongly believe in uniting nature and kids, therefore, on the farm, we will be assisting children on pony rides, guiding them through forests and caves, as well as telling stories around the campfire. The overall goal of this volunteer experience is to promote local vendors, recycle waste, and support community initiatives.
